Maruti Alto K10 Scores 2 Stars in Global NCAP Crash Tests

Maruti Alto K10 Scores 2 Stars in Global NCAP Crash Tests

The Maruti Alto K10, a popular entry-level hatchback car in India, has recently scored just 2 stars in the Global New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) crash tests. The car was tested as part of the Global NCAP's "Safer Cars for India" campaign, which aims to improve the safety of cars sold in India.

The results of the crash tests show that the Maruti Alto K10 is not as safe as some of its competitors in the same price range. The car scored 2 stars for adult occupant protection and 2 stars for child occupant protection. This means that the car provides only marginal protection for its occupants in the event of a crash.

The tests were conducted at a speed of 64 km/h (40 mph) and the car was subjected to a frontal impact. The results showed that the car's structure was unstable and could not withstand the impact. The car's airbags also did not perform as expected, and the driver's chest received significant impact.

This is not the first time that the Maruti Alto K10 has scored low in crash tests. In 2016, the car scored just 1 star in the Global NCAP's crash tests. Despite this, the car remains a popular choice among Indian car buyers due to its low price and fuel efficiency.

It is important to note that car safety should be a top priority for car manufacturers and car buyers alike. The safety of occupants should never be compromised for the sake of cost or fuel efficiency. The Global NCAP's "Safer Cars for India" campaign is a step in the right direction towards improving the safety of cars sold in India.

In conclusion, the Maruti Alto K10's 2-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests is a cause for concern. While the car may be affordable and fuel-efficient, it should not come at the cost of occupant safety. Car manufacturers should strive to improve the safety of their vehicles, and car buyers should prioritize safety when making their purchasing decisions.
